Google Maps for iOS in final phase of testing

The Cupertino Company has some good news for the loyal iOS fans regarding its Maps service.Google Maps

Google Maps for iOS is now in its final phase of testing. The search giant is working on its new version which could be on the iOS devices very soon. That also depends on when it gets approved at Apple store.

This news was first featured on Wall Street Journal which reported that Goolge is close to submitting its new Maps apps for the iOS store. The app has already been distributed to several people outside the company who are testing it out.

Google’s new app will include turn-by-turn navigation, a feature that was absent from Google’s previous version of Maps for iOS. Its another story that Apple sent it packing in September with the launch of iOS 6 replacing it with its own mapping software which received a lot of criticism and still is. I even know people who are refusing to upgrade from iOS 5 because they want to get the ridiculous app with it.

You all must be aware of the Nokia app HERE which might come to iOS 6… of course there is no guarantee and either of the two will make it to the app store, but we can all hope that one of two will.

Google’s spokesperson was telling the WSJ that, “We believe Google Maps are the most comprehensive, accurate and easy-to-use maps in the world. Our goal is to make Google Maps available to everyone who wants to use it, regardless of device, browser, or operating system.”
